LVE by John Legend 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon, Raymond Vineyards, Napa Valley
Introducing the LVE, Legend Vineyard Exclusive Collection by John Legend. The perfect harmony of passion, eloquence and Napa Valley tradition, produced in collaboration with Napa Valley's renowned Raymond Vineyards. As with his music, John searched for the right collaborator, a vineyard whose pursuit of the perfect blend and standards of excellence equaled his own. With roots deep in the Napa Valley and award-winning wines known for beautiful balance, finesse and power, Raymond Vineyards was the perfect match. The Cabernet Sauvignon is a mix of clones from four distinct vineyards, located in St Helena, Yountville, Stag's Leap and Raymond's Rutherford Estate. The Petite Verdot comes from a single vineyard just north of the town of Napa. The grapes were individually berry sorted and went through extended maceration with the wines being on the skins from 29-63 days. It was then pressed and aged in a mix of Demptos, Baron, Saury and Seguin Moreau French oak barrels – 40% new – for 14 months before being bottled.Wine Enthusiast Magazine scored it 91 points saying "This is singer/songwriter John Legend's inaugural wine project in conjunction with Raymond Vineyards in the Napa Valley. Combining 85% Cabernet Sauvignon with 15% Petit Verdot, it tells a powerful story in thick layers of blackberry cobbler, chocolate and coffee, the tannin and oak integrated and silky smooth. This is a wine of great presence."
