Perhaps the most celebrated producer in Germany's esteemed Mosel Valley, Johann Joseph Prum produces outstanding single vineyard Rieslings critics praise and collectors can't get enough of. This wine from the famed Wehlener Sonnenuhr vineyard is a Spatelese which translates to "Late Picked". This means the grapes had a chance to fully ripen and take on a rich complexity. The wine is mildly sweet and laden with minerality. The Wine Advocate scored this 94 points and said "The 2012 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Spätlese is more cool and mineral/stony on the nose than the Himmelreich Spätlese, but also intensely fruity at the moment, offering ripe peach, mango and pineapple aromas and crushed chocolate. Gorgeously rich, juicy and piquant on the palate, this lush and sensual Riesling seems riper and slightly sweeter, but also more intense compared with the Himmelreich. Its persistent finish is nicely mineral and salty on the aftertaste. This is a rich and potent wine with great potential."
