Insurrection 2014 Shiraz/Cab Blend, South Eastern Australia
Answering the call for bold, concentrated red wine is Insurrection red blend from Australia. Crafted by veteran Australian winemaker Steve Roden, Insurrection blends two powerhouse grapes, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz, to deliver a wine packed with flavor and intensity. Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz were sourced from cool climate vineyards in two regions in South Eastern Australia: Padthaway and Langhorne Creek. Here, the grapes need thick skins to withstand extreme temperature swings. Warm days develop intense aromas and flavors and cool nights maintain the robust character of the grapes. Insurrection fruit was left on the vine as long as possible to concentrate those flavors, night harvested to maintain freshness and rotary fermented to enhance power. French and American oak aging for nine months contributed spice to the wine and structured tannins. Wine Enthusiast Magazine said "This fills the basic need for a steakhouse-ready red at a reasonable price. Cassis fruit is framed by hints of cedar, vanilla and tobacco, while the tannins are smooth to the point of creaminess. Drink now."
Hubby brought a bottle of Resurrection 2014 from the local Kroger grocery store, and I was indeed resurrected; lovely, rich smooth taste begging for another mouthful. Will take a bottle to my friends' dinner parties. I'm always looking to find good foods and wines for my characters in my novels; This one will find its way into one. The name is also of interest. Cheers! Love to all Maria Olinda Adler
