Duckhorn Vineyards has been making wine using grapes from the finest Napa Valley vineyards for over 35 years but only in the last few have they produced a Napa Valley Chardonnay. In fact, this 2013 is only the second vintage. Grapes comes from 11 different vineyards in the coolest regions in the Valley. In the cellar, they applied classic techniques of French oak barrel fermentation with lees stirring in 45% new French oak barrels, resulting in a Chardonnay that shows complexity and richness. Beverage Dynamics scored this Duckhorn Chard a whopping 97 points saying "This, only their second release for a Chardonnay, confirms that Duckhorn and Renee Ary are on the right path. Rich, vibrant fruit highlights the best fruit sourced from 11 prime valley sites. Peach and melon notes balance the touches of citrus fruits. Very detailed barrel fermentation program includes hand stirring of the lees."
