Under the same ownership as the lofty St. Estephe Classified Growth, Chateau Montrose, received the same muli-million dollar rejuvenation that Montrose did when the brothers Bouygue purchased the properties in 2006. In fact, the winemaking is done by the same team and both properties are led by none other than Jean Delmas the celebrated former Director of Chateau Haut Brion. With all of that going for it it's no wonder the wines excel. The 43 acre vineyard of Tronquoy Lalande is planted 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 48% Merlot and 4% Petit Verdot with a vine age averaging 25 years. this wine from the phenomenal 2009 vintage is a great find. It scored 92 points from Robert Parker and 94 points from Wine Enthusiast Magazine who said "The tannins are very fine, with rich fruitcake and smoky flavors. Red berry and black plums give a fruity character, along with delicious acidity. The wine is structured while still remaining very approachable." Limited!
