Priest Ranch is a single estate Napa Cab. Somerston estate, located in Yountville, harvests grapes from 18 individual vineyard blocks between 850 and 2,400 feet above the valley floor to create this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. This mountain fruit has good concentration and each lot brings its own nuances and expression of the unique microclimate. The 2012 vintage was a classic and the grapes were picked when the tannins were mature and smooth. Each lot was vinified separately. The wine aged for 22 months in 35% new French oak barrels. Like many 2012's it drink beautifully right now and will continue to over the next 8+ years. Robert Parker said it "..has loads of cigar-tobacco infused red and black currant fruit, spice box, licorice and foresty notes. It's medium to full-bodied and best drunk over the next decade." Antonio Galloni scored it 90 Points saying "The style is rich, dark and enveloping, with tons of depth and compelling balance at this level. This supple, inviting Cabernet is an excellent choice for drinking over the next handful of years. There is plenty to like, including the price."
