Rutherford Hill 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley
Nestled high in the Eastern Hills, Rutherford Hill Winery commands a spectacular view overlooking the Rutherford bench of Napa Valley. It is from a handful of the most select Napa vineyards that Rutherford Hill continues its tradition of crafting legendary wines.
Rutherford Hill has undergone a quality renaissance in recent years. Purchased in 1996 by Anthony Terlato and his sons, Rutherford Hill's style has been refined by their broad base of knowledge, industry expertise and uncompromising demand for exceptional quality.
This 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon is an outstanding example of the bold personality and unbridled flavor characteristics the Terlato family approach has brought. This ripe, sleek, elegant wine is carefully crafted then properly cave aged in French oak within one of the most extensive natural cave systems in North America, providing the ideal temperature and humidity throughout the aging process. A blend of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot, The wine macerated for 30 days on the skins and then aged 18 months in French oak barrels. It delivers aromas of dark fruit (black currant, blackberries) layered with notes of cassis and vanilla with hints of cedar, spice, and cola. On the palate it is
intricately and intensely flavored with dark plum and cassis, with a dusting of spices. It has a lush texture and velvety tannins. Classic Napa Cab for the outstanding 2012 vintage!
