The nude rocks of the upper part of Les Garrigues give character to the vines Clos Pons estate grows there and inspires the name for this exclusive organic wine. The best organic plots of theses vineyards at over 2000 feet above sea level, are sourced for this bold red. Tempranillo is blended with Garnacha and Cabernet Sauvignon. The new, modern winery uses the latest technology to bring out the essence of the unique terroir in this sun-drenched northeastern region of Spain. The lots were vinified separately and the wine aged 14 moth in new and 1st year French oak barrels. Extended bottle age in the winery cellar has allowed the wine to soften and expand in flavor and complexity. Wine Enthusiast Magazine has scored it 91 points as has the Wine Advocate who said "The 2010 Roc Nu is a blend of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Garnacha and 20% Tempranillo aged for 14 months in new and used French oak barrels. It has a slightly reduced, herbaceous nose that I actually like, under which there is a good ripe core of red cherries with some spicy oak notes. The palate is medium-bodied, with fine-grained tannins, good volume and a slightly warm finish. Drink now-2018." and Antoni Galloni's Vinous scored it 92 saying "Deep ruby. Musky, deeply pitched cherry and blackcurrant scents are lifted by allspice and fresh rose, with a vanillin oak quality in the background. Sweet and focused in the mouth, offering vibrant dark berry flavors with hints of spicecake and mocha. Closes smooth and very long, leaving smoke-accented floral and blackberry notes behind." This is a limited production release direct from the winery. We are offering it to our Wine Express customer at a special discounted price. Don't miss it!!!
