Sassicaia's little brother, Guidalberto is a lush Super Tuscan from the Tenuta San Guido in Bolgheri. A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot, fermentation takes place separately for each variety in temperature-controlled steel vats before undergoing maceration. The wine is aged 15 months mostly in French oak. This is the wine to drink and enjoy while you wait for your Sassicaia to mature in your cellar. International Wine Report scored this 90 points saying "Pretty aromas of cherries and blackberries come together with dried tobacco, spices and fresh cut floral in this elegant blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot from Tenuta San Guido. On the palate this medium-bodied red is well balanced and supported by fine, silky tannins which lead into the finish. The 2014 Guidalberto was aged 15 months in mostly in French oak with some use of American oak barrels and should continue to evolve with some additional time in bottle. (Best 2017-2024)" and James Suckling scored it 92 points saying "Very silky and fresh with lots of blueberry and cherry character. Medium to full body, fine tannins and a fresh finish. Delicate and flavorful. Well done for the vintage. Drink now."
