Raymond 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon, Reserve Selection, Napa Valley
Grapes for this Reserve Selection Cab were sourced from Raymond's own vineyards in Rutherford and St. Helena and from select growers around the Valley representing 11 of the 16 districts. A blend of 91% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Sirah, 2% Petite Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc, the wine was given extended skin contact of up to 43 days before aging in 30% new French oak barrels for 18 months. Robert Parker scored this 92 points saying "The generic 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley Reserve comes from a mix of sites, ranging from Yountville in the south to Calistoga in the north, as well as some mountain vineyards, such as Atlas Peak. A blend of 91% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Petite Sirah, Petit Verdot, Malbec and Cabernet Franc, it has a dense purple color and a beautiful nose of blue and black fruit, licorice, graphite and subtle toast. It spent 18 months in 100% new French oak and was bottled unfiltered. This beauty can be drunk now or cellared for another two decades or more." Antonio Galloni described it as "Dark red cherry, plum, mocha and spice abound in a generous, ripe Cabernet Sauvignon that delivers outstanding quality and value..."
