1996 was the first release of The Hope Family created Treana in 1996 to offer this special blend of Cbaernet Sauvignon (75% and Syrah (25%). Since its inception it has been widely embraced for displaying how well the flavors of these two grapes from the exceptional terroir of Paso Robles compliment one another creating a rich mouthfilling blend. This latest release is from the outstanding 2013 vintage. Grape lots were fermented individually in stainless-steel tanks for 14 to 20 days. Extended macerations and carefully managed pump overs enhanced the extraction of color and tannin. The varietals were aged separately in French oak barrels, 65% of which were new, 35% were
once-used, for thirteen months. The initial blend was assembled in the
winter of 2014-2015 and barrel-aged an additional two months. Wine Enthusiast Magazine scored this 91 points saying "Very inky in color, this bold and flavorful blend by Hope Family Wines shows aromas of cooked blueberries, caramel, fudge and milk chocolate. The palate is rich with milk chocolate, cappuccino and vanilla-bean flavors laid across a base of black-plum pudding and woven together by lush, sticky tannins."
