Il Pollenza (Conte Brachetti-Peretti ) is a dynamic and forward-thinking estate that makes modern wines, and maintains a focus on international and Bordeaux grape varieties. Orginally Giacomo Tachis was the winemaker, creator of Sassicaia. Today, Winemaker Dr. Carlo Ferrini, called an "Italian Master" by Decanter Magazine is the consulting enologist. Cosmino is a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Cabernet Franc from 20 year old vines. The wine was aged 12 months in French oak barrels. The Wine Advocate scored it 93 points saying "A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, the 2010 Il Pollenza is a wine of beauty and depth. The Marche region is not known for wines of this power and character, but the Il Pollenza estate seems intent on making a big statement. The Bordeaux choice of grapes - as opposed to using indigenous varieties - gives the wine a clearly international blueprint. The wine is deeply saturated and rich with dark fruit and plenty of spice. I prefer the 2009 vintage to this wine, but not by much. This wine is impressive based on its own merits."
