Cantele has vineyards in Puglia with vine ages from 20 up to 40-50 years. These are late-ripening Negroamaro vines which they deftly cultivate. The warm sunshine in this southernmost region of Italy is tempered by the cooling breezes of the Adriatic Sea na this ensures that the final wine is balanced with moderate alcohol levels and good natural acidity as well as structure and depth to age. This wine is 100% Negroamaro and it's aged 6 months in third or fourth use French oak barrels and an additional 3 months in the bottle. The Wine Advocate scored this 90 points saying "The Cantele 2013 Salice Salentino Riserva shows a greater level of depth and finesse compared to many of its peers. The wine is packed tight with blackberry fruit, with Maraschino cherry, plum and prune in abundance. The wine is chewy and rich for sure, but it also provides an authentic and generous portrait of a red wine from Puglia. A spicy beef or lamb dish would make the perfect pairing partner." Super Value!
