This wine is produced by the third generation of the Fetzer family. Ben and Jake Fetzer purchased the Masut Ranch in 1992 to grow organic Pinot Noir. Of course the family's roots go far back in that region and was ahead of its time as the region is now considered one of the very best areas for growing Pinot Noir in all of California. The high elevation vineyard, around 1,000 feet above sea level is in the brand new Eagle Peak AVA. T8e wine was aged for 12 months in 50% new French oak. Just 1,500 cases were produced. Wine Spectator scored it 90 points saying "Packs in a tight core of spicy wild berry and raspberry flavors, accented by hints of cinnamon, tea and dusty earth. Fans out to capture black licorice and dried sage details. Drink now."
