Heritance 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon, Rutherford, Napa Valley
The name Heritance is fittingly derived from a combination of 'heritage' and 'inheritance,' signifying the start of a new tradition and the continuation of an enduring legacy. The valley oak pictured on the label, a familiar sight in any Napa landscape, represents the Taub family's deep wine industry roots in California and further reinforces the wines connection with its provenance. The diamond at the base of the tree symbolizes the seed that remains planted for future generations. Under the experienced eye of chief winemaker Tom Hinde, Heritance wines uphold a tradition of elegance. The winery represents the best sites in Rutherford including Cabernet Sauvignon from the renowned Beckstoffer Georges III Vineyard. The deep-rooted vines for this Cabernet Sauvignon are grown on the bench sites and foothill vineyards in the Rutherford AVA. This area is defined by well-drained soils primarily composed of gravel, sand and loam. Grapes are Hand-sorted and fully-destemmed to small closed fermenters. Native and select Bordeaux yeast isolates are used. Put to barrel on fermentation lees for malolactic fermentation. Racked every 4 months during 18 months aging. 100% French Oak (75% new). James Suckling scored this 92 points saying "Very attractive aromas of currants, blackberries and dark chocolate. Full body, soft and round tannins and a flavorful finish. Juicy and rich. Dusty undertones that give away the Rutherford style. Drink or hold."
