In Italy there is a great passion for wine, "una Gran Passione" and here is beautiful Veneto red that is easy to be passionate about. A blend of 60% Merlot and 40% Corvina that's made in a semi-Amarone style. A portion of the the grapes are dried, concentrating the flavors and richness. After a slow fermentation and then a short aging in oak casks the wine is supple and expressive. The wine journal Gilbert & Galliard said "Intense crimson with dark purple tints. Endearing nose of cocoa, fine spices, a floral note and subtle exotic wood. Velvety, robust, concentrated palate with a pleasant natural sensation, tension and lovely intensity. Hint of heat on the finish." An incredible value!
I'm just now exploring wine, and this one was quite delicious. I don't know all the descriptive nomenclature to offer any sort of help. Instead I will say that I enjoyed a bottle with grilled sirloin, garlic mashed potatoes, and a salad. The wine was absolutely perfect with this meal, and I'm very pleased.
