Since its founding in 1978, Pine Ridge has produced outstanding Cabernets that showcase the unique character of the AVAs of their estate vineyards as well as this wine which is crafted to embody the ultimate essence of Napa Valley. The fruit for this 2014 was chosen from premier estate vineyard sites throughout the Napa Valley, mainly the Stags Leap District, Oakville and Rutherford AVAs. The berries were hand-harvested at night, carefully sorted and destemmed. Fermentation took place in temperature controlled tanks and then the wine was racked into 40% new American oak barrels, where it was aged for 24 months prior to bottling. Robert Parker scored it 92 points saying "The bottled 2014s include the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa, which is 93% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Petit Verdot. A classic much in keeping with the vintage characteristics, this charmer is loaded with sweet black and red currant fruit, some spice box, earth, and subtle oak. It is up-front, irresistible, full-bodied and layered with fruit and glycerin. The finish displays sweet tannin and the wine can be drunk now or cellared between 15-20 years. I tasted an array of wines from Pine Ridge. My notes on some late-release 2013s are followed by a bevy of 2014s, with some in bottle and others still in barrel and awaiting bottling."
