The vision behind Artezin is to honor the art of making Zinfandel from old vine plantings and work with family owned farms throughout Mendocino and Sonoma Counties. Artezin wines have been handcrafted by winemaker Randle Johnson since the brands its inception in 2002 and reflect the tradition of Zinfandel winemaking that has been handed down throughout the generations. Mendocino’s Mediterranean climate produces warmer days providing optimal ripening conditions. Cool evenings extend the growing season, helping
Artezin Zinfandel retain balanced acidity and good structure. This 2013 is a blend of 85% Zinfandel, 10% Petite Sirah and 5% Carignan aged in French and American oak for 15 months. Wine Enthusiast Magazine made this as Editors' Choice and scored it 92 points. They said "Wow” is the first word that comes to mind when tasting this superconcentrated and immensely fruity wine. It practically overwhelms the nose and the palate with ripe, jammy boysenberry and blackberry, sprinkled with licorice and black-pepper nuances that add attractive complexity. It's a big wine all the way, but not extreme in alcohol."
