Tenuta di Renieri is located in the southernmost part of the Chianti Classico zone, in the town of Castelnuovo Berardegna. Here the warmer temperatures produce bigger, riper wines than in the more northern villages. Part of the Bacci group of Tuscan wineries, Marco Bacci oversees the winemaking, using modern techniques while trying to express the local terrior. This wine is 100% Sangiovese from his hillside vineyards that produce very low yields. It is aged 6 months in French Allier oak, 50% new barrels. The bold, ripe Sangiovese from this region soaks up the oak nuances and displays a rich complex array of cherry, plum, tobacco, violet and toast flavors. James Suckling scored this 90 points saying "Lots of pretty and subtle sweet fruit character with roses, cedar and orange peel undertones. Medium to full body, bright acidity and a clean finish. Drink now."
