The Forstreiter family, owners of Meinhard Forstreiter have been making wine since the late 1800's. With winemaking in their blood they have brought their current property to an exceptional level of quality. The vineyard is situated in Krems-Hollenburg in the Kremstal, along the right bank of the Danube River, across from the Wachau, an ideal micro-climate for Gruner Veltliner. For this Scheifer single vineyard reserve the grapes are hand harvested and whole cluster pressed. After fermentation the wine ages two weeks on the fine lees.
Wine Enthusiast Magazine scored it 92 points saying "A touch of flint plays onto an earthy nose, the palate adds fleshy peach and lots of lemon and white pepper. There is immense concentration at the core and more reserves of pepper and spice that will slowly come to the fore. This should stay in the cellar for a year or two to round out but will shine with savoriness."
