Bergstrom 2013 Pinot Noir, Shea Vyd., Yamhill-Carlton District, Willamette Valley
Josh Bergstrom was much influenced by the time he spent studying oenology in Beaune and working in Burgundy immediately before in 1999 taking over winemaking duties at his family’s then nearly new estate. Today, it comprises 85 acres of vines in five disparate locations, to each of which a single-vineyard Pinot Noir bottling is dedicated. Rounding out the line-up are Pinots from Shea and Temperance Hill vineyards. They only produce ultra-premium and extremely sought-after wines that often sell out before reviews are even in. This 2013 Shea is no exception, it's a powerhouse of a wine. Wine Enthusiast Magazine scored it 94 points saying "The muscular flavors of Shea vineyard fruit shine through, a potent, briary mix of berries, thistle and highlights of orange peel and coriander. In a vintage of more muted, refined wines, this qualifies as a blockbuster." Extremely Limited!
