As the name implies, this wine is designed to go with big cuts of delicious meat. But its food-friendly nature extends to distinctive, aged cheeses, rubs with interesting spices, and even full-flavored veg dishes like quinoa chili, grilled marinated vegetables or BBQ smoked tofu. This blend of 74% Zinfandel, 21% Petite Sirah and 5% Syrah is barrel aged 16 months in 30% new French oak and it scored a 95 point Platinum Award in the Winemakers Challenge Competition. They said "Easy drinking, fruit forward, spicy red wine with moderate tannins and a fun package that will invite the wine-fearful to give it a go? Nothing wrong with that. Fire up the grill, throw on some meat, sip, flip and serve. Oh -- and enjoy rich brambly fruit, fall spice and a touch of pepper."
This Zin heavy blend is approachable, forward and flat out tasty with blueberry and blackberry fruit, fluttering floral notes, peppery spice and a hint of smoke. Plush on the palate and long on the finish, this confident wine screams for some BBQ ribs or burgers off the grill.
