Tenuta Renieri comprises just over 300 acres right in the Brunello di Montalcino zone, on slopes that face Monte Amiata. From his estate vineyards, proprietor Marco Bacci produces exciting, high scoring Brunellos and Super Tuscans every vintage. This delightful Tuscan red is his number one best value! It's a blend of 50% Sangiovese, 25% Cabernet , 25% Merlot, aged 3 months in French Allier oak barrels. This 2013 scored 91 points from James Suckling who said "This shows aromas of ripe plums with dark licorice. More fresh and straightforward with plenty of juicy and delicious fruit and a wonderful clean finish. Drink now."
I am a fan of Renieri wines across the board, and this one is easily the best value of their lineup. Approachable and fresh, this shows lots of dark berry fruit with hints of anise and smoke. Good acidity and lots of structure for a relatively inexpensive wine.
