Locations P Red Blend, Dave Phinney, Portugal
Dave Phinney of Orin Swift fame has branched out beyond California to produce a line of international wines that show off his expertise blending different varietals as well as his uncanny ability to make wines that taste twice as good as the cost. Robert Parker said "As of now, Dave Phinney might be my 'value winemaker of the year' candidate... If there are better wines for under $20 a bottle in the world today, please share that information with The Wine Advocate. These are all remarkable efforts. Kudos to Dave Phinney!" This P-4 blend from Portugal receivied a score of 97 points from Wine Review Online. They said "The dry reds from Portugal are so far undiscovered by most of the world, which is a shame because the ratio of price to quality is stunning. The backbone for this beauty from Locations is Touriga Nacional, which is the money grape in most of Portugalís sweet Port wines. This vintage is rich and layered, with juicy ripe fruit, beautifully integrated tannins, and impressive length on the palate. A Platinum award-winner at the 2017 Critics Challenge International Wine & Spirits Competition." A blend of Touriga Nacional, Trincadeira, and Touriga Franca aged in French and American oak barrels.

Very Tasty Blend!
A stunning wine! I really loved the prominent notes of dried fruits and blueberries. Very well balanced and complex, this is definitely a wine that can stand on its own.

A gem of the Portuguese!
A great wine with complex taste. They spent all thier effort on the wine and not the label. Great price point as well.

P isnâ??t primo
I always buy Dave Phinney wines from various countries which are always identifiable by a single letter. The Portugal wine is okay but not up to the standard I have experienced with his other wines I have sampled. Seems to be a little on the weak side. I buy a lot of Portuguese wines and was expecting a heartier wine.

Is this a very dry red wine, or just semi-dry?
KMTestPro on Oct 16, 2017
BEST ANSWER: This is a dry red wine, not semi dry. It is really good for the price.
What year is the vintage and what is the drinking time frame?
Robert M on Sep 1, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Hi Robert, Dave Phinney's Locations wines are released as a blend with no vintage designation. This is the P-4 blend of this wine. We recommend drinking this wine now and over the next 3 to 5 years, Cheers!
