About Guidalberto 2015 Tenuta San Guido, Toscana IGT

Sassicaia's little brother, Guidalberto is a lush Super Tuscan from the Tenuta San Guido in Bolgheri. A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot, fermentation takes place separately for each variety in temperature-controlled steel vats before undergoing maceration. The wine is aged 15 months mostly in French oak. This is the wine to drink and enjoy while you wait for your Sassicaia to mature in your cellar. Wine Enthusiast Magazine scored this 93 points saying "Redcurrant, blue flower, cedar and a hint of pine forest are just some of the aromas you’ll find on this fragrant red. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, the bright, savory palate doles out juicy raspberry, red cherry, tobacco and white pepper alongside fine-grained tannins while a licorice note graces the close. Enjoy through 2027." and James Suckling scored this 94 points and said "Fantastic aromas of dried flowers, tiles, terracotta, plum and cherry follow through to a full body, dense and velvety tannins and a persistent finish that caresses your palate. Energy and balance. Beautiful now to drink but much better in 2020 when the wine comes together."
