Duckhorn has been producing Cabernet Sauvignon since 1978. Blending fruit from estate vineyards and top Napa Valley growers, this wine embodies the complexity of the valley, while offering a seamless balance between fruit, oak and tannins. To add nuance the Cabernet is blended with Merlot, yielding a wine that is approachable in its youth, yet worthy of cellaring. 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot aged in 100% French oak château-style barrels 50% new for 16 months. Wine Spectator scored this 92 points saying "This is marked by a strong herb and oak mixture and framed by a lively burst of red currant, red licorice, dusty, cedary oak and licorice notes. Drink now through 2030." and Wine Review Online scored it 94 points saying "Another splendid vintage of Cabernet Sauvignon for Duckhorn is just another day at the office. And it's anything but ho-hum. The 2014 is a richly layered, black-fruited beauty that exhibits impressive depth, intense fruit aroma, and beautifully integrated oak/spice notes. Well balanced and beautifully structured to improve with age, it nevertheless is beautiful to drink now as well."
