About Falanghina del Sannio 2015 Feudi di San Gregorio

A native grape in the Campania region of southern Italy, Falanghina grapes are named after the method of vine cultivation used in the Roman era, using falangs or poles. Feudi San Gregorio sources grapes these grapes from vineyards in the Sannio appelation. Grape bunches are hand-harvested and then transported in refrigerated trucks to the winery. Bunches are individually selected and soft-pressed followed by cold settling for 24-48 hours. The juice is cold-fermented in stainless steel vats between and does not undergo malolactic fermentation. After fermentation the wine ages 3 months in stainless steel on the lees for added texture and character. Wine Enthusiast named this ripe white an "Editors' Choice" giving it a 90 point score and saying "Jasmine, honeysuckle, apricot and citrus aromas open. The bright, savory palate presents juicy pineapple, ripe pear, white peach and lemon zest framed in tangy acidity. Hints of Mediterranean herb add depth while a mineral note energizes the finish."
