About Acclaimed 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon, Oakville, Napa Valley
Here's a superb Napa Cab that hails from the high quality, high rent district of Oakville. Heard of Screaming Eagle? Opus One? Plumpjack? Silver Oak? All located in Oakville. Cabernets from Oakville are the cream of the crop. Of course what generally goes along with that are high prices, so we got really excited when we came across this gem.
Even though it was sourced from a first-rate vineyard in the heart of Oakville and expertly vinified by celebrated Winemaker Trevor Sheehan whose long-standing relationship with top growers is well known, and is from the outstanding 2018 vintage, the price is quite surprising. A blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot and 5% Petite Verdot the wine was aged judiciously for 10 months in 60% new oak barrels. Did we mention that the 2018 vintage is rated 99 points overall?
W&S rated this wine 92 Points saying 'Aromas of brambly raspberry and lavender are layered with barrel notes of vanilla and toffee. Rich black plum and black cherry are at the forefront of a solid core of fruit that coats the palate, while an underlying note of mocha that compliments the bold, firm texture and full body. Pairs well with chocolate desserts and meat.'
Did we mention that the amazing price is surprising for the obvious quality and excellence? Let your friends guess how much you paid and you'll be surprised once again.
