Established in 1998, Alta Vista is a French family-owned winery that focuses on the production of high altitude, site-specific wines. The family’s winemaking knowledge and passion, together with its former ownership of the famous champagne house Piper-Heidsieck, provided the impetus to create a harmonious French-Argentine fusion. Years of research brought them to the top growing regions of Mendoza, an area best suited for the creation of terroir-expression wines.
Alta Vista’s Vive Malbec exhibits the true character of its grape variety. Fresh and intense, this wine’s aromas and
flavors provide an excellent introduction to the fresh, fruit forward characteristics and overall quality of wines from
Argentina.
After a manual harvest, grains are carefully separated from the stalks by a crusher and carried to stainless steel tanks. Alcoholic fermentation is done with select yeast for 7 days and regular pump overs take place at a temperature between 79 - 82 degrees Fahrenheit. Maceration is extended for 10 days. 25% of the wine is aged in French oak barrels for 6 months.
A Gold Medal winner and 90 ponints in the San Diego Wine Challenge, this delivers intense red fruit aromas, specifically plum, with hints of vanilla and a subtle trace of coffee. Young, bright and explosive in the mouth with fruit and wood flavors thanks to its sweet and round tannins. Stunning Value!
