Amarone Classico 2006 Bertani

Bertani was founded in 1857 by brothers Gaetano and Giovan Battista Bertani. Prosperous wine merchants who believed that quality winemaking held the key to the future, the Bertanis invested their funds in buying some of the finest vineyards in the province and making their own wines. Consequently, unlike many other local producers, Bertani owns its own vineyards and so is able to oversee the entire winemaking cycle from start to finish and their wines are considered some of the absolute best in the region.

Intense red colour, with ruby red nuances. This Amarone is surprising for the intensity at the nose. The notes of dried fruit and plum, are overpowered by an extremely rich bouquet that highlights intense aromas of berries, fruit compote, liquorice, chocolate, tea leaves underline the complexity and the freshness of this vintage. Full in the mouth with velvety and round tannins, which are enhanced by the sapidity and the vibrant acidity. The 2006 vintage will give great satisfaction both in the short and in the far future.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate scored this 93 Points saying, "A classy effort, the 2006 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is a magnificent wine that showcases the qualities and pretty nuances of the elegant vintage. The bouquet is immensely perfumed with delicate tones of crushed mineral, red rose, dried cherry, creme de cassis, Indian spice and cured meat. It's a streamlined expression that is still muted at this young stage. Give it more time to complete its evolutionary course."
