About Austin Hope 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon, Paso Robles

Hope Family Wines is still proudly family-owned and operated with Austin Hope now presiding over five unique labels: Liberty School, Austin Hope, Treana, Candor, and Troublemaker. Austin maintains the Hope family’s legacy of sustainable farming practices and long standing tradition of making delicious, reliable, and accessible wines, all while infusing a vibrancy that resonates from the vine to the glass.

Austin Hope Cabernet Sauvignon stems from an endless fascination with the soils and diverse sub-regions of Paso Robles, where exceptional wines are being made. It also tells the story of the Hope family’s long history in the region. Grapes were sourced from small chosen blocks in the following AVAs of Paso Robles: Creston, Estrella, Adelaida, El Pomar and Geneseo Districts.

After harvesting the grapes, select vineyard lots were fermented individually in stainless steel tanks for 10-14 days. Extended macerations and carefully managed pump overs enhanced the extraction of color and tannin. The lots were aged separately for 11 months in a combination of 10% new, 25% once used, and 65% two to three times used French Oak.

Through a combination of tasting and analytics our best lots were determined and the initial blend was assembled in late summer of 2021. As a whole, this blend was aged an additional two months in 75% new and 25% once used French Oak. The wine was racked just twice during its cellar life, with the final racking occurring just prior to bottling.

Wine Enthusiast Magazine scored this 94 points saying "The experience of this bottling is deliciously predictable vintage to vintage, serving as a rich and reliable expression of Paso Robles Cab. Aromas of black cherry compote, caramel and clove remain fresh on the nose. The palate’s smooth tannins wrap lusciously around fudge, more compote and baking spice flavors, leading into a gingerbread finish."
