Famous for their world-class Vino Nobile wines, Avignonesi owns some of the
best estate vineyards in eastern Tuscany. The high altitude (up to 1200
feet above sea level) creates an ideal microclimate not just for
Sangiovese but also for Bordeaux varietals as well. This wine is a
bordeaux-style Super Tuscan blend of 39% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot
and 25% Sangiovese with grapes from up to 40 year old vines. Fermented
with indigenous yeast in temperature-controlled stainless steel, the
wine aged 18 months in oak barrels and stainless steel tanks.
James Suckling scored this 92 points saying "Plenty of treacle, licorice, plum liqueur, blackberry tart and vanilla. Full body, medium acidity, ripe tannins and a fruit-forward finish. Structured. Drink in 2019." A Super Value!
