About Beaux Freres 2014 Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley

Perhaps the most collectible Pinot Noir in America, Beaux Freres has set a standard that few can match. Begun as a partnership between renowned wine critic Robert Parker and his brother-in-law, they recently sold their interest but the winery is staying true to it's mission producing only excellent Pinot Noir. The Willamette Valley cuvée features fruit grown on select vineyard sites in Yamhill County. The wine benefits from the same integrity in the winemaking process as the estate wines. The sites are farmed sustainably and managed to very low yields. It was aged in the same French oak barrels used in the estate bottling, however the percentage of new oak is intentionally lower. This cuvée consists of wine made from the following vineyards: Zena Crown, Beaux Frères, Gran Moraine and Upper Terrace. And as always it is bottled unfined and unfiltered. Wine Spectator scored it 91 points saying "Bright and tangy, with raspberry and cherry flavors that gain momentum as they push against fine tannins into a long and expressive finish. Best from 2018 through 2024." and Vinous scored it 92 saying "Bright ruby-red. Suave, oak-spiced aromas of ripe dark berries, cherry cola and minerals carry a zesty floral overtone. Silky and expansive on the palate, offering juicy black raspberry, cola and lavender pastille flavors plus hints of mocha and spicecake. Shows impressive clarity and spicy lift on a very long, fruit-driven finish that's shaped by even, slow-mounting tannins."
