About Belle Fiore 2015 Red Blend, Rogue Valley

Here's a wine that really surprised us and then shocked us when we saw the price.

Oregon's Rogue Valley is much hotter than the Willamette Valley so, no Pinot Noir here but very good Bordeaux varietals. Located inland and shielded by mountains, the Rogue Valley has a very warm climate. But because of those same mountains vineyards can be planted on hillsides at high altitude which tempers the heat particularly at night when temperatures can be as much as 40 degrees F lower that daytime highs. This allows grapes to take on complexity and retain ideal balance.

All of Belle Fiore's grapes are grown on their estate vineyards in just these conditions. Planted in 2007 their hillside vineyards have matured beautifully and are turning out world class fruit. This blend is 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Malbec and 19% Merlot and the wine aged in a combination of French and American oak barrels, 30% new. The wine shows enticing aromas of black currants, black cherry, violets and smoke. The palate is supple and round with more black cherry, kirsch, chocolate and hints of toasty oak with a ideal balance and a lingering finish.

This boutique winery is only able to produce very small quantities of these engaging wines and they don't last long. We made a special arrangement to grab all there was of this 2015 Cab blend so we could bring it to our Wine Express customers at an impossible to pass up discounted price. Act fast!
