Here's a brilliant wine that makes an outstanding gift and is ideal for celebrations large and small. A recent article in Forbes Magazine titled "California Pinot Noir Producer Decides To Release Single Vineyard Wine After Almost A Decade Of Aging" discussed this rare and special release of a Belle Glos Pinot Noir only in Magnums. The wine is from the Wagner Family's Taylor Lane Vineyard in the Sonoma Coast Appellation. Less than six miles away from the Pacific Ocean and at an elevation of around 1,000 feet, the Pinot Noir planted here struggles to obtain enough ripeness every vintage. tThe vines are trellised to stretch out parallel to the ground in order to soak up maximum direct sunlight.
Wagner decided to only release vintages of Taylor Lane when he feels that that vintage has reached an ideal harmony and because he feels that wine ages more evenly in magnum this 2011 available on a small release only in that size bottle.
In Forbes the wine was described as having "Complex nose with dried thyme, forest floor and cherry blossoms that had a stunning texture with just the right amount of structure that gave a precision to the wine balanced by a small amount of fleshiness that was lifted by the crisp acidity." Limited!
