Here is the latest release, a 2012 Brunello di Montalcino from the L'Oca Ciuca. Ciuca is a joint project that includes famous Italian enologist Alberto Antonini, who has headed up winemaking at such iconic Tuscan estates as Col D'Orcia, Frescobaldi and Antinori. Antonini oversees all of the winemaking at Ciuca and delivers super value, incredibly tasty and affordable Brunello every vintage. The grapes are all hand harvested from prime local vineyards in Montalcino. The wine is aged for two years in French oak barrels, prior to the required two years in bottle before release. 2012 was another outstanding year and this Brunello is full-bodied and ripe with black cherry overtones and a spicy, lively structure. Easy to enjoy now and with a price that's extremely easy to swallow.
