Baricci Brunello di Montalcino comes from a selection of the finest grapes in the Montosoli single vineyard. The grapes come from the highest plots, which have the best exposure and ventilation. The vineyard is renowned for the quality of its grapes from vine averaging 40 years of age. Fermentation is in stainless steel vats with maceration on the skins for 21 days. The wine was then aged 36 months in Slavonian oak barrels. 2013 was an outstanding vintage.
Vinous scored this 95 points saying "Bright dark red. Floral nuances complicate the aromas of red cherry,
licorice, sage and minerals on the captivating nose. Rich, dense and
juicy; harmonious ripe acidity provides noteworthy clarity and cut to
the steely red cherry and licorice flavors. Finishes long with rising
smooth tannins and hints of licorice. Very serious, very pure Brunello
in the classic, high-acid, no-frills style of the vintage."
and Wine Enthusiast Magazine made this a "Cellar Selection' and scored it 97 points saying "Truffle, underbrush, new leather, wild berry and violet aromas are front and center on this gorgeous, full-bodied red. The taut, vibrant palate combines power and grace, delivering crushed red cherry, cranberry, white pepper and tobacco. It's young but impeccably balanced, with firm noble tannins and bright acidity. Hold to give it time to fully develop. Drink 2023–2043."
