Cambria 2014 Syrah, Tempusquet Vyd., Santa Maria Valley

Set 400 feet above sea level on the Cambria Estate, the celebrated Tepusquet Vineyard possesses sandy loam soils that restrict vine vigor and increase concentration. The Cambria vineyard team meticulously farms this site on a vine-by-vine basis to ensure only ripe, clean berries, the fruit was hand-harvested by Cambria’s experienced vineyard crew. This compelling red is 99% Syrah with 1% Viognier blended in. The wine aged for 13 months on 24% new French oak barrels. Vinous scored this 92 points saying "The 2014 Syrah Tepusquet Vineyard is one of the most compelling wines in this range. Rich and explosive, with layers of dark fruit that build effortlessly, it possesses superb intensity and volume. It also appears to have more than enough depth to handle the 100% new French oak.
