Carpe Diem means "Seize the Day" in Latin and it seems like that's exactly what the makers of this wine are constantly doing. Christian Mouiex and his Dominus winemaking team in Yountville had yet another wine to produce after they were done with Dominus and Napanook Cabernet, and this is it. Grapes were selected exclusively from the best vineyards in Napa Valley (perhaps including Napanook?).
This 2017 is a blend of 98% Cabernet Sauvignon, 1% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc aged 12 months in French oak barrels. The comparison to Bordeaux is not surprising since Mouiex is also the owner of Chateau Petrus in Pomerol.
This Cab shows beautiful elegance and expression. The Wine Spectator said "Bright and direct, with up-front Linzer torte and cherry compote flavors, accented by sassafras and dried savory hints. Drink now through 2024."
