Castello di Neive is a family owned estate whose winemaking philosophy is rooted in tradition, and creativity, respecting a centuries-old heritage of winemaking while embracing new technologies and research activities—both in the vineyard and in the cellars. The 150 acre estate includes 62 acres devoted to grape growing. The entire production is with grapes from their own vineyards in Basarin, Cortini, Gallina, Marcorino, Messoirano-Montebertotto, Santo Stefano and Valtorta.
For this 2016 Barbaresco 100% Nebbiolo grapes were selected from the Gallina, Messoirano, Valtorta, and Santo Stefano vineyards from vines averaging 30 years of age. The grapes are fermented in stainless steel and the aged in traditional large wooden casks.
Wine Enthusiast Magazine scored this 96 points saying "Rose, violet, just-tilled vineyard soil and perfumed berry are just some of the aromas you’ll find on this dazzling, fragrant red. The elegant, delicious palate is chock full of elegance and flavor, delivering juicy Morello cherry, raspberry compote, cake spice and a balsamic note. It boasts fantastic tension and finesse, and will be even better with more bottle age. Gorgeous. Drink 2026–2036."
