Claire Moueix (yes that Moueix family!) and Cyril Basteau seek to craft a living wine, a sincere reflection of Tauzinat l’Hermitage. Their philosophy is to preserve the character of the vineyard, loyally transmute the terroir into the wine, craft and age the wine with simplicity and thoroughness. In other words, let the wine 'just be'. They surround themselves with a dedicated team, vine and cellar hands as well as artisans that share the desire to put their know-how to the service of this passion.
It was in 1953 that Antoine Moueix, conquered by the charm of the wine and the place, acquired Tauzinat l’Hermitage. This family estate, with a rich history of more than 3 centuries, is today in the hands of the 5th generation. With respect and benevolence, Claire Moueix and her husband, Cyril Basteau, preserve, guard and preciously cultivate this family treasure.
Perched at 95 meters of altitude, on the northern border of the clay-limestone plateau, Tauzinat l’Hermitage is a terroir within the terroir, a unique micro-climate, a remarkable subsoil and geological structure.
James Suckling 92 Points
A pretty nose of blackberries, cherries, sweet spices, caramel and earth. Full-bodied with fine tannins. Rich and plush with a velvety texture. Lots of ripe and sweetly spiced fruit on a flavorful finish. 85% merlot and 15% cabernet franc. Drink from 2024.
