About Chateau Bellevue 2015 Medoc, Cru Bourgeois

Here's an excellent 2015 Medoc Bordeaux that's a stunning value! Chateau Bellevue is a family owned Chateau. It was granted Cru Bourgeois status in 1978 and the owners have devoted themselves to grape growing and quality winemaking. The estate has 67 acres of vines located on the edge of the Gironde, composed of 5 vineyard blocks.  The largest block is located on the plateau de la Magnotte, known for producing the best wines of the commune. The plantings are 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 50% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc.

This wine from the outstanding 2015 vintage is impressive. Grapes are all hand-picked and the wine aged in French oak barrels for 12 months. It shows bright berry notes on the nose along with cedar spice and earthy undertones. On the palate it's silky and sinewy with tobacco, black currant, cedar and mocha nuances. The wine is open and enjoyable now but clearly has the concentration an structure to continue to age well for the the next 3-5 years.
