Superb and affordable St. Emilion Grand Cru!
  • 95 Points!
  • Family Owned for 8 Generations!
Château Bernateau is a beautiful estate spreading over 18 acres benefiting from an incredible soil made of clay and limestone hilldsidesand limestone plateau. This rare terroir is planted of 72% of Merlot, 25% of Cabernet and 3% of Petit Verdot. The LAVAU family has run the estate for 8 generations now and make a complex, racy Saint-Emilion Grand Cru.

From the outstanding 2015 vintage, this wine is a blend of 79% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot aged 14 months in oak barrels.

James Suckling scored this 95 points saying "Big plums and blackberries are the dominant component of this rich and chocolatey St.-Emilion. However, the wine also has a serious tannin structure and more than enough acidity on the powerful and long finish to carry all this extravagance. Drink or hold"
