The mature vines average 35 years of age with deep healthy roots. The plantings are 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 48% Merlot and 4% Petit Verdot. This wine from the outstanding 2016 vintage was an overwhelming success. Its blend is 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot and 4% Petit Verdot aged 12 months in oak barrels.
Antonio Galloni scored this 92+ saying "The 2016 L' Aura de Cambon is just as compelling from bottle as it was from barrel. Plush and flamboyantly ripe to the core, the 2016 is captivating. A rush of black cherry, chocolate, new leather and spice builds as this sumptuous wine shows off its personality. As good as the 2016 is today - and it is impressive - it also needs time to recover from its relatively recent bottling."
Chateau Cambon la Pelouse 2016 was selected #16 on the Wine Enthusiast Top 100 wines for 2019. They scored it 93 points saying "This rich wine is built by generous tannins and dense black-plum fruits. A hint of dark chocolate offers depth and an edge of extraction that does not detract from the delicious ripe fruitiness. Drink from 2023."
