Chateau Cambon La Pelouse has 96 acres of vines in the heart of the Haut-Medoc. The soils are sand and thick gravel which are ideal for growing Cabernet and Merlot. The mature vines average 35 years of age with deep healthy roots. The plantings are 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 48% Merlot and 4% Petit Verdot. This wine from the outstanding 2016 vintage was an overwhelming success. Its blend is 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot and 4% Petit Verdot aged 12 months in oak barrels.
Antonio Galloni scored this 92+ saying "The 2016 L' Aura de Cambon is just as compelling from bottle as it was from barrel. Plush and flamboyantly ripe to the core, the 2016 is captivating. A rush of black cherry, chocolate, new leather and spice builds as this sumptuous wine shows off its personality. As good as the 2016 is today - and it is impressive - it also needs time to recover from its relatively recent bottling."
Chateau Cambon la Pelouse 2016 was selected #16 on the Wine Enthusiast Top 100 wines for 2019. They scored it 93 points saying "This rich wine is built by generous tannins and dense black-plum fruits. A hint of dark chocolate offers depth and an edge of extraction that does not detract from the delicious ripe fruitiness. Drink from 2023."
