Located in the Canon-Fronsac appellation, Chateau du Gaby dates back to the 1700’s. Today it has been fully restored and the vineyards were recntly certified organic. The 40 acre vineyards of Chateau Gaby have limestone soils with a clay sub soil and are planted to mainly to Merlot along with Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon . The vines average close to 35 years of age.
For this wine from the outstanding 2015 vintage the wine was fermented and vinified in temperature controlled, traditional cement vats. The wine aged in 55% new, French, oak barrels for between 12 and 18 months. 80% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon.
Wine Enthusiast Magazine scored this 90 points saying "A hugely dense wine, this powered by dark black fruits that have fully absorbed the tannins. Concentration from the ripe Merlot is prominent, giving great richness that is, happily, lifted by intense acidity at the end. This wine is just ready to drink."
