A family owned estate, Chateau La Bouree has 30 acres of vines in the clay and sand foothills of Bordeaux' right bank. Mature vines averaging 40 years of age produce densely concentrated, richly flavored grapes. Densimetric sorting removes any under-ripe fruit and the grapes undergo a cold soak for 8 days followed by a two week fermentation. The blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc is then aged half in tank and half if in oak barrels for 6 months. The Wine Spectator scored this 90 points and said "Ripe and solidly built, with a muscular core of raspberry and plum compote flavors, lined with anise and fruitcake hints and carried by a solid graphite spine. Singed apple wood notes frame the finish, adding texture and range. Best from 2018 through 2024. Tasted twice, with consistent notes." Quite a description! Quite a wine!!
