This Chateau is located in 12th century historic village near Saint Emilion on 38 acres. The vineyard soils are clay and limestone and planted to Merlot Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The vines average a mature 25+ years of age.
This wine is true gem, from the outstanding 2016 vintage it's a blend of this Bordeaux is 77% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Cabernet Franc. The grapes are de stemmed and crushed before going into stainless steel and traditional concrete tanks. Fermentation is temperature controlled and uses only selected yeasts. After 2 weeks on skins for ample extraction the the skins are pressed and the wine is aged in tanks to let the tannins soften and the full fruit expression come through.
This wine shows a fruit driven bouquet now with hits of tobacco and cedar adding complexity. The palate is round with soft tannins giving it a velvety mouthfeel. The cassis and black cherry fruit are complemented by spicy notes of cigar box cedar and tobacco. Well balanced and very pleasing this Bordeaux red is an absolute steal!!
