Château La Ribaud is named for a hamlet in the village of Saint Yzans de Médoc. Operated for several generations by a family of passionate winegrowers, Patrick Bouey acquired it in 2015. The vines of this Médoc Cru Bourgeois are planted in a clay-limestone soils and the wine is a Merlot/Cabernet Sauvignon blend with a round and generous structure, as well as a nice potential for aging.
Bouey made the smart decision to hire celebrated consultant Stéphane Derenoncourt. This superstar enologist has made some of the worlds finest wines including Chateau Pavie-Macquin, Chateau Canon-la-Gaffelière, La Mondotte and even Francis Ford Coppola's Rubicon Estate in Napa Valley. This wine from the outstanding 2016 vintage aged 12 months in French oak casks.
James Suckling scored this 91 points saying "Some earthy and brambly darker-berry aromas here with a super fresh palate that carries crunchy, red and dark-berry flavors, as well as a bright line of acidity at the focused, fresh finish. Try from 2022."
