About Chateau La Rose Du Pin 2019 Bordeaux
Wine Enthusiast Magazine Top 100 Best Buy Wine for 2021
As passionate botanist, Henri Ducourt knew how to scout out the finest terroir in Bordeaux' Entre-Deux-Mers. In 1965, he began to buy plots of vines near the village of Romagne on a remarkable clay-limestone plateau. Over the years he built up a great estate between “A La Rose” and “le Pin de Cornet”, which today is now Chateau La Rose du Pin.
The vineyard is 118 acres farmed sustainably and planted with about half and half Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. De-budding, leaf thinning and green harvest are carried out. After harvest, the grapes are cold-soaked for 24-48 hours. Fermentation is carried out in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks with maceration over 3 weeks. The wine was aged in both oak barrels and stainless steel tanks.
This was named a Top 100 Best Buy Wines for 2021 by Wine Enthusiast Magazine. They scored it 90 points saying "Light stalkiness from the black-currant flavors of this young wine promise well for the future. With ripeness and a good balance of acidity and texture, this attractive wine is likely to be ready from 2022."
Gilbert & Gaillard awarded this a Gold Medal saying "Sustained garnet color, purplish reflections. Pleasant nose combining black stone fruits, blackcurrant, spices, discreet woody background. Supple, rich, full-bodied on the palate that is less expressive, letting the oak dominate for now. Let's wait for it to develop."
