About Chateau Lassegue 2012 Saint Emilion Grand Cru

Chateau Lassegue is the stunning St. Emilion property purchased by the Jackson Family who made it one of the region's top performers. With Winemaker Pierre Seillan (also of Verite), the Lassegue team turns out exceptional right bank Bordeaux every vintage. Located on the Côte de Saint-Émilion, the vineyards of Chateau Lassegue are blessed with both extraordinary soils and an ideal south/south-west exposition to the sun. Lassègue is Saint-Émilion at its most opulent.

Old vines averaging 50 years of age grow on the south/southwest hills whose soils of clay and limestone add exquisite minerality to their fruit. Rich, aromatic Cabernet Franc married to the dense concentration of old vine Merlot and seasoned with a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon results in a wine that is at once powerful and elegant.

This Library Release of the 2012 vintage is 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon aged 12 months in French oak.

Independent Bordeaux critic Jean-Marc Quarin scored this 92 points on release and said “Pierre Seillan, the author of Vérité, La Joie, Le Désir, excellent wines of California, refines his approach of Bordeaux and he offers to us the 2012 millesime with a subtle and very fruity nose, with the mouth finely soft, full, juicy in the medium and which keeps a fine touch and fruity bright until finally. Beautiful behavior, beautiful length." On Sale!!
